Beehex Robotic Pizza Printer Cart
Case Study
Sophic Design partnered with BeeHex to develop a mobile cart for their innovative and unique 3D pizza printer.
3D Printing The Future of Cuisine
Recent advancements in AI and robotics has unlocked the ability to offer fine cuisine driven by automated technology. The ability to create delicious, flavorful dishes that are fully replicable in terms of consistency and portions across multiple recipes while simultaneously reducing workforce overhead creates an added level of operational efficiency that translates directly to profits for big and small restaurants alike. Because of the strategic advantages offered by automated food creation BeeHex’s 3D pizza printer instantly made waves in the food industry.
Automated Pizza On The Go
After partnering with Sophic Design to envision the design and product roadmap of their first generation pizza printer BeeHex partnered with Sophic again to help create the design for the mobile cart that would house and transport the necessary ingredients to make fresh, delicious, and automated pizzas on the go.
Expanding The Brand Language
BeeHex envisioned their unique pizza maker being used in both commercial kitchens and on display in smaller venues which meant it needed to embody the strength and reliability of a professional appliance as well as the elegance and appeal of a consumer offering.
Visual Territories & Aesthetics
Because of the requirement for this product to feel at home in both commercial and consumer-facing environments it was imperative to define and communicate appropriate visual cues to both user types. The goal was to identify and apply the best parts of the robust utilitarianism of commercial kitchens and blend them with many of the aesthetic cues found in high-end kitchen appliances.
Materials & Detailing
As a complimentary product to the BeeHex pizza printer it was critical that the cart and printer embody the same visual brand language as much as possible. While the cart design needed to be more utilitarian for manufacturing and prototyping purposes it was important to retain visual consistency between cart and printer by leaning hard into the product’s colors, materials, and finishes. By maintaining the same bright stainless steel finishes throughout the panels of the body and black color accents on working surfaces and touchpoints a connective thread was created between both products.

Thoughtfully designed with the end user in mind, the BeeHex pizza cart integrates beautiful details with technical requirements to create a product that integrates with the pizza printing process.
