The Challenge, Our Contribution & The Result
The Challenge
Give automated nail-painting technology a clear, approachable form suited to personal care at home.
Sophic’s Work
Industrial design and product experience development, integrating the device, replaceable polish cartridges, manicure accessories, and branded details.
The Result
A cohesive product concept showing how automated polish application could fit into an everyday beauty routine.
The Opportunity
Bring The Manicure Experience Closer To Home
Coral One set out to make nail care more convenient through automated polish application. The opportunity was to give people greater flexibility over when and where they maintained their nails.
For the product design, that meant connecting a new technical capability with a familiar personal-care routine.
The Design Challenge
Balance Technical Precision With The Appeal Of A Beauty Product
An automated nail care device needs to communicate where to begin, how to position a finger, and what happens next. Its appearance also needs to feel appropriate for the personal space and routine it enters.
The design brought these requirements together through a clear interaction area, integrated accessories, and carefully considered surface details.
PROJECT CRITERIA
Technical Clarity
A Defined Finger-Placement Area
Guided Setup & Progress
Accessible Polish Cartridges
Personal-Care Appeal
An Integrated Manicure Tray
Refined Materials & Finishes
A Consistent Visual Identity
Product Experience
Give An Unfamiliar Task A Clear Sequence
The proposed experience connects setup, finger placement, and automated application through a guided sequence.
Step 1 - SELECT & SET UP
Insert the desired polish cartridge, then follow the interface prompts to configure the application.
Step 2 - POSITION
Place one finger in the application area and follow the prompts.
Step 3 - APPLY & CURE
The system is designed to detect the nail, apply polish, and cure the finish while the interface communicates progress.
Inside The System
Cameras identify nail position and geometry. A moving applicator follows the nail surface, with UV curing incorporated into the proposed process.
Designing For Everyday Use
Design For Preparation, Polish Changes & Repeat Use
The product experience extends beyond applying polish. Changing colors and preparing nails also need a place in the routine.
PRODUCT USE & FEATURES
Make Color Changes Straightforward
Accessible, replaceable cartridges let users replenish polish and switch colors or finishes without opening the main device.
Give Preparation A Place
A removable stainless steel manicure tray sits on top of the device, secured with magnets. It provides a dedicated surface for nail preparation and keeps supporting accessories connected to the product.
Materials, Details & Identity
Carry The Brand Into The Physical Product
Coral One’s identity extends into the surfaces people see and touch. Laser-etched patterns reference the brand, while the polished stainless steel tray connects a familiar manicure material with the automated device.
Together, these details bring consistency to the product, its accessories, and the surrounding experience.
Brand Details
Laser-etched patterns carry Coral One’s visual identity into the product.
Material Details
Satin metallic surfaces contrast with polished stainless steel, adding definition to the product’s details.
Integrated Accessories
Magnetic attachment gives the removable tray a defined place on the device.
Final Design
A Complete Vision For Automated Nail Care At Home
The Coral One concept brings the application device, replaceable polish cartridges, manicure tray, and guided interaction into one coordinated system.
Sophic’s contribution made the proposed experience tangible: how the product could look, how someone would approach it, and how its supporting details could fit into a personal-care routine.
